Hello, World!
Hello everyone, Narik here!
First of all, thank you for coming and visiting this project of our. This game was originally an entry to the Behind the Games - Winter Game Jam 2021, whose theme was "Memory Leak".
This is not the first game that either of us have made for a game jam but, for me at least, this one resulted in a game that is actually a bit of fun. GeezerWizard (David) was the one that came up with the idea for the game and did most of the art, and I was the one that hindered his vision with my janky programming. More seriously though, for me it was an opportunity to get back into working with Unity; and so while we did manage to get most of the initial vision for the game done, some polish and art/sound was left out of the jam release (and some bugs were left in).
With that introduction out of the way, we have done some tweaks to the game jam version to make the game have more polish (e.g., sound effects), less bugs (e.g., the score is shown correctly), and adjusted the difficulty. It should now be basically impossible to play the game forever, so it will be interesting to see what time/distance people can reach!
With this update brings the game much closer to the original design, but there are still plenty of sounds that are missing and plenty of unused art assets laying around waiting to be used. I hope you'll look forward to seeing what's more to come from this game, or at least that you'll give it another go when we have added some new features!
Some potential planned features (subject to change) include:
- More sounds and music
- Smoother difficulty and difficulty settings
- More backgrounds (both enhancing the existing one and perhaps adding in more)
- New characters
- Different circuit layouts
- Obstacles to avoid - just in case the circuits falling wasn't enough :)
- An ending (maybe?)
While I can't guarantee that all, or any, of these things will be done, nor can I say when they will be done, we have discussed and written down designs for some of the simpler ideas, and they should be fair easy to implement.
Thanks once again for reading this post, I hope to see you again soon! - Narik
